MEL SANDERS

Mel Sanders was the very first inductee into the Nebraska Rock 'N

Roll Hall of Fame. His "Fan Award" signaled the direction of the Hall

of Fame that centers around music fans and dance music

Mel is an O'Neill native, whose early memories of rock included

walking to town to dances and listening to records on a battery

powered player before they had electricity on the farm. Mel and his

 wife Lucy live in Norfolk.

It was a tape of vintage rock, compiled by Sanders, that inspired

Jim Casey to organize the first 'Nebraska Rocks' in 1994.
