ROGER W. MORGAN

 and a radio legend. Roger joined Omaha's KOIL radio in the late sixties,

 moving to Nebraska from stations in Oregon. With Morgan, KOIL became a

 midwest hot spot for local rock 'n roll bands, helping to bring many groups

 like The Rumbles, The Smoke Ring, Zager and Evans and The Chevrons

 to national recording prominence. "I never meant to become a radio

 personality"' Roger was quoted in a recent interview. "I was hired as a

 "gofer" when I was still in high school, and the owner came in one day

 and fired the entire staff. The only reason I wasn't a victim was because

 I was out in the field behind the station burning trash. The owner

 asked if I knew how to handle the on air duties, and although I'd never

 been in the control room, I was given the opportunity to run the place solo

 for about a week. That's all it took. I was hooked!"

In 1974 and 1975, Roger was featured in 14 episodes of the ABC television

 show, "The Streets of San Francisco" starring Karl Malden and Michael Douglas,

 and had a cameo role in the Clint Eastwood film, "The Enforcer."

It was in Omaha that Roger came up with the idea to "Morganize" his

 listeners. The feature caught on and Morganizing is still a main

 element on his daily radio program heard on Oldies 99.9, KGOR.

1998 marks Roger's 40th year in radio.
